🌟 Recommendation Details

Jeff Bussey is a kid living in Kansas, right before the beginning of the Civil War. He had decided to join the Union volunteers if war ever broke out, and when bushwhackers attack his family's farm and he helps fight them off, he finally goes off to Fort Leavenworth to join the army. On his walk, he meets with his friends, many of whom decide to join him on his walk to the fort. When he arrives, he finds that the army is not as glamorous as he has made it out to be. He is under the malevolent Captain Clardy, who hides a secret, but there are also people like Noah Babbit who walked hundreds of miles to see the magnolias in bloom. Jeff will experience the horrors of war, as well as meet dangerous people and friends.
