From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenwiler is about two siblings named Claudia and her little brother Jamie running away from home and finding a life for themselves. The two children find their way to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art where they hide out and get involved in studying the past of an angel statue that the museum had bought from a Mrs. Basil E. Frankenwiler. The children become enthralled by what their research leads to and eventually leave together to find Mrs. Basil E. Frankenwiler themselves.
I recommend this book because it is spunky, spontaneous, and truly highlights the fantastical nature of young children. The story is based around the unending curiosity and passion that the siblings possess in their quest for knowledge regarding the old angel statue. This classic book is interesting and full of wholesome and funny adventures that Claire and Jamie embark on.
