Cow is the main character for a play. She is scared of other animals laughing at her if she messes up jumping over the moon. Everyone else from the cast gives her encouragement, saying that no one will laugh at her. Dog, the director, makes Cow practice with smaller objects first, such as a dish. This gives Cow the confidence to jump over the moon, but she misses. This discourages her and she wants to leave, but everyone encourages her that she did her best. Cow decides to try one more time and she actually succeeds. During the play, Cow also succeeds in jumping over the moon. She did not get embarrassed like she thought she was going to. Encouragement is helpful and really give the receiver hope.
Reason for recommendation: It is uplifting as well as entertaining. It also teaches the reader to encourage others when they're down, which could really make someone's day.
