For years, 16 year old Kat has spent her life lying to survive. Her mother, Jamie, is a con artist, and Kat, though skilled and talented, is scared to become someone like her. As Jamie gets ready with one final heist, which is to attend a birthday celebration party in order to steal a necklace, Kat tags along (as usual) to protect and work with her mother. The plan is simple: Act as a server in billionaire Ross Sutherland's party, replace a necklace with a fake one, and run. The plan seems solid, until Kat and her mother realize that Jamie's ex husband is… Annalise's boyfriend! And Kat's stepbrother (her mother's ex husband) is also joining his father. When Jamie suddenly has unexpected health issues, Kat must carry out the scheme herself. But when people start to get suspicious and one of Annalise's family members gets killed, Kat realizes she is not the cold manipulator she thought she was. I recommend this book because it is so well written. Although the plot twists are kind of easy to spot and know how they end, I still love and appreciate the effort of the many twists that happen in the book.
