🌟 Recommendation Details

Everything is going perfectly normal in seventh grade at a school in rural Louisiana until a mysterious girl named Orchid shows up at school. Everyone was packed into tight groups with different personalities and statuses. There was the God Squad, the popular kids, and Dorothy and Greyson, who were outsiders. At first, the small groups were hesitant to approach her, but Greyson and Dorothy invited her to sit at lunch. After befriending each other, Orchid started telling about her "experiences" in many different and unique countries. One day the curious pair decided to explore and find out where Orchid lived. After being invited to Orchid's house–a trailer–she revealed she wasn't the world traveler she was. She was just a poor girl traveling the US with her father for his job. Even her name was not Orchid, she was trying to intrigue her new friends. Greyson betrayed, was very mad at Orchid, and stormed home, leaving Dorothy to console Orchid, who was crying. The next few days were filled with drama because of a dance that was coming up in the nearby town of Saintlodge. Eventually, the news about Orchid being a liar spread to Renni, a bully and popular girl who used to live in Fawn Creek but now lives in Saintlodge. She plans with her friend Janie to expose Orchid at the dance. What will she do? Find out in this dramatic middle school novel! I recommend this book because it is told from the perspectives of many characters. By writing the story from different perspectives, the author shows us the characters' personality traits and thoughts. In all, this book is an excellent story for coming-of-age readers.
