Talin is a striker for the Mara, famed for their duty of bringing death to monsters. The story starts out with Talin killing Corian, the person who accepted her as his shield. The first rule Talin was taught as a striker was if someone was turning into a monstrous Ghost then you had to immediately kill them. The tradition of when a Striker dies, is that a person must deliver it to the family and kneel in the deepest form of apologies for the death. However, this time, when Talin delivers it to Corian's father, she is rejected as Corian's father blames her for not protecting Corian. Without the acceptance of the House of Barra (Corian's father's household) her days as a striker may as well be over. Everything changes when she meets a prisoner who was captured at the warfront. Unlike other prisoners, this person is different, Talin feels like something about him is off. Talin intervenes with the torture brought to the prisoner, accidentally leading to her getting assigned to him. Who really is this prisoner? Will Talin still be able to remain as a Striker for the Mara? Skyhunter is a captivating and thrilling masterpiece perfectly woven with mystery by Marie Lu.
