Stamped is a historical book about the foundations of racism and how the fight against racism has evolved in the US. The author starts at the colonies and makes his way through politically tense and often horrific events as he describes how racism has evolved. Reynolds stresses three main viewpoints on race, Segregationist, Assimilist, and Antiracist all of which have been prevalent views at some point in history from the foundations of the slave trade to the first African Americans in congress.
I recommend this book because it is very educational and offers many perspectives on racism throughout US history. The author does a wonderful job of accounting for all three different views on race by highlighting many prominent historical figures leading those views. It is very important for people, especially young people, to learn about the evolution of racism in order to gain a deeper understanding of inequality and justice in society.
