🌟 Recommendation Details
"Harbor Me" by Jacqueline Woodson is a book about six students who reside in New York. Since they are failing in school, they are all placed in a class with only one teacher. They also had one hour everyday after school to talk in a room by themselves called the ARRT(A Room To Talk)room, opening up and talking about their daily lives and struggles. Through these conversations, they get to understand more about each other and form a sense of unity and support among themselves. For example, there is a boy named Esteban, who's father got arrested and deported. Sharing his struggles with the group brought a lot of weight off of his shoulders, helping him feel better since others such as Haley(the narrator and one of the six kids) share similarities in his struggle. I recommend this book because it shows that sometimes it's okay to share your struggles with others.
