Tobiah is the vigilante Black Knife. Yet is he the boy Wilhelmina loves or the one she hates? Tobiah is dying in her arms and Wilhelmina's left with no choice but to reveal her magic. She uses magic to take out the arrow without causing him to bleed out. Wil later goes back to her bedroom and changes her clothes, planning an escape out of the palace. If Tobiah dies, she would become a hostage and unable to reclaim her kingdom. Asking the wraith boy (who she somehow created wielding the deadly substance Wraith) to help her escape, she uses magic to search for her Osprey friends. She finds Melaine, trying to locate Connor too because like her, Connor also has magic. After returning from her meeting/reunion with the Ospreys, she checks up on Tobiah. Tensions rise as the Queen (Tobiah's mother), James (Tobiah's cousin) and Francesca join the conversation. They mention the attempted assassinations and about Patrick being involved in trying to kill the royal family. At night she disguises herself as the Black Knife, helping people getting attacked by monsters. What will she do to deal with Patrick? What will Wilhelmina do to reclaim her throne? Personally, these types of stories are quite appealing to me as they are packed with forbidden romance in the most bizarre situations, mystery and unique characters with realistic personalities and skills. I highly recommend this sequel because it just wraps everything up and also weaves a compelling story line.
