🌟 Recommendation Details

Eleanor & Park is a novel written by Rainbow Rowell that tells of the story between two sixteen-year-olds, Eleanor and Park. One day, while riding on the bus and sitting with the high school bully jocks, a curly-haired redhead girl steps foot onto the school bus. Immediately, she's noticed by everybody . . . and nobody wants to share their seat with her. Desperate to save both their faces, Park slides aside and tells her to sit down. What they don't know is that this act alone will lead to a twisted yet beautiful love between them. And it starts with… comics. One day, while they sit in their unmoveable silence on the bus, Park catches the new girl staring at… not him, but his comic. He dismisses it, but, almost automatically, his hands start turning the pages slower. Over time, a quiet understanding grows between them. Park starts leaving comics on her seat for her to read, and soon, music follows — mixtapes exchanged without words. Little by little, Eleanor and Park find solace in each other. But outside the bus, Eleanor's life… is far from simple. Her abusive stepfather looms over her home like a storm cloud, and the only escape she has is the graceful, mysterious boy on the bus… I recommend this book because it is a beautiful book about the relationship between two unlikely, and maybe even star-crossed, high schoolers.
