It was peaceful throughout the 1800s until gold was discovered, attracting 300,000 people from around the world. You might be wondering why so many people came to America Just to search for gold. Well, many of these 300,000 people were poor and believed they could become rich. The gold rush was a period when thousands of people rushed to areas where gold was found. However, it caused many problems, such as people killing others for gold and stealing it to gain wealth. It also led to the displacement or killing fo Native Americans.
