🌟 Recommendation Details

"Fathers and Sons" is a novel that explores the father-son relationship, primarily emphasizing the generation gap. Its author is one of the world's greatest writers: Ivan Turgenev. The novel meticulously depicts the ideological conflicts between Nikolai, the father of noble birth, and his son Arkady, regarding life, medicine, politics, family, and love. Nikolai hopes to understand his son's thoughts and keep up with the times, but things always go awry, and they drift further apart. Arkady, on the other hand, grows close to Bazarofu, a young man with similar ideas, and gradually becomes rebellious. The critical spirit of youth makes them intellectually strong and action-oriented giants. Bazarofu greatly influences Arkady's thoughts and behavior; however, Arkady's attitude towards love is conflicted—he resists it while simultaneously resenting his own romantic feelings, creating inner turmoil and contradiction. Ultimately, Nikolai spends his later years in luxury, Arkady marries the woman he loves, and Bazarofu is buried in a remote cemetery, with only the flowers on his grave telling the story of his departed life. I recommend this book because its character portrayals are incredibly realistic, and its depiction of each person's inner world resonates deeply. The conflict between the father and son's thoughts and emotions gave me a profound experience, teaching me to better understand and live life. I hope you'll enjoy it too!
