This book, "By Royal Command" is set in 1934. James first is on the train going to Austria for a school skiing trip. When skiing, he finds out that one of his classmates is drunk. His skii broke and he injures himself to save the drunk classmate. When he is at the hospital, James hears a man complaining that their cousin, "Jurgen" is going to be killed who ends up being Graf Otto von Schlick. James goes back to Eton after recovery and is introduced to the new maid, Roan Power. As they fall in love, Roan takes James to meet her friend Dandy O' Keefe where he accidentally meets Princesses Elizabeth and Mary, but isn't aware of it yet. A few days pass, and James finds out he received an invitation to a party hosted by the Prince of Wales. He goes and meets Graf Otto von Schlick. A few days later, King George V comes to Eton to visit. As James is pushing through the crowd, he is knocked unconscious by Dandy who explains to him that he is going to assasinate the king by blowing up the church of Eton, then framing James for doing it as a beginning to a communist revolution. James escapes the cell and Roan tells James that she and the others are working for a Communist agent. As James slowly discovers the gravity of the situation, he secretly devises a plan to save the king's life, while risking his own life in the process. Will he succeed? I would recommend this book because it ultimately connects the entire series together. It features characters from all the books including the first book, and is extremely well written.
