🌟 Recommendation Details

Thanksgiving is a holiday for giving things. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the US. Thanksgiving has been harvest celebrations from thousand years ago in the ancient countries. September 1620, to search for a new home, a group of 101 Pilgrims sailed from Plymouth, England on a small ship called the Mayflower. After a long and difficult voyage, they came ashore at what is now Plymouth Massachusetts. They began to build homes but had little food to eat. Many people died in the cold winter. When spring arrives, the Native Americans taught them how to grow foods and how to be better hunters. The crops grew well, and they had a good harvest in fall. The Pilgrims had a big feast to thank God for the abundance of food and invited the native Americans. This was the Pilgrims' first Thanksgiving. In1863, Thanksgiving was made a national holiday for the US. Pumpkins, turkeys and fall leaves are the symbols of Thanksgiving. Families and friends get together and share good times during the holiday. Reason for recommendation: This book is about the Thanksgiving holiday including its history and how it is celebrated today. It is a great way to tell the children the full story of how this tradition came about.
