"Coraline discovered the door a little while after they moved into the house...."
When Coraline steps through a door to find another house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous. But there's another mother there and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go. Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and courage if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.
My Recommendation:
A smart, spooky read and it also has a movie adaptation (Caution: the movie can be a lot more frightening than the book.
A book that will actually give you the spooks and quite literally, take you to the door of the paranormal world.

Coraline is a classic fictional story about a young girl named Coraline who goes on a reality defying adventure as she finds that in her family's new apartment, there is a door to an alternate reality. A curious Coraline walks through that door that leads her to meet her "other mother" and "other father" of the alternate reality who resemble her parents perfectly, except they have black buttons for eyes. Coraline realizes that in this alternate reality, her "other mother" has trapped the souls of other children as well as her actual parents, so she goes on a dangerous journey to save them and bring them back to reality.
I recommend this book because it is thrilling and mysterious with unique and interesting characters such as Coraline's weird neighbors. This book is a classic and has been turned into a cartoon movie before. This book is somewhat spooky with its otherworldly people with buttons for eyes, but the button- eyed people resemble much deeper emotions and thinking than we think. The author does a wonderful job of keeping us engaged as Caroline finds her way through another dimension.
