"Runs with the Stars" is a moving story about the Ojibwe Horse, the only Indigenous-bred horse in Canada. The Ojibwe Horses used to roam the forests of Northwestern Ontario, wild and free. But they almost disappeared. Grandfather takes care of a small herd of Ojibwe Horses, hoping to keep the breed alive for future generations. Upon the birth of the new foal, Grandfather gives her the name Wiijibibamatoon-anangoonan. In their local language, it means runs with the stars.
Reason for recommendation: It is moving to see the strong bond between
humans and animals. Also, in the extra pages the authors introduce more
information about the Ojibwe Horse.
