🌟 Recommendation Details
Fourteen-year-old Caroline Whitaker was raised in South Carolina during the tumultuous and violent years of the American Revolution. Her father is a Patriot in prison, her home has been taken over by British officers, and a few months ago, her best friend was cruelly murdered. However, Caroline is white-passing, so she can at least know that they won't come for her. Her slave grandmother lives in a log hut on the same property, and she is not allowed to speak to her. But when Caroline's brother is badly wounded, she must gather the courage to bring him home. I recommend this book because it gives readers a look at just how devastating wars are. In the book Cast Two Shadows, Caroline must risk her life for her brothers, showing selflessness and bravery.
