🌟 Recommendation Details

Bram Stoker's Dracula is the gothic horror classic of the well-known vampire, Count Dracula. The story is told through a mix of diary entries, newspaper articles, and letters between Jonathan Harker, a solicitor enlisted to manage the assets of Count Dracula, and Jonathan's fiancee, Mina Murray. A routine business trip goes awry as Jonathan must travel to Transylvania and stay in Dracula's castle, where he is not allowed to leave. Dracula presents himself as a hospitable host but often manipulates the situation to make it impossible for Johnathan to depart as intended. Johnathan discovers Dracula to be a vampire and frantically writes letters to his fiancee's best friend, Lucy, fearing that he will not escape the castle alive. The castle is protected by creatures that roam the surrounding forests, and Johnathan suspects that Dracula possesses supernatural powers to keep these creatures confined. Meanwhile, Jonathan's fiancee, Mina, is staying in England with her friend Lucy. During Mina's visit, a ship carrying cargo from Transylvania mysteriously crashes on the shore, and the crew and captain do not survive. Shortly after, Mina notices Lucy's strange illness, which causes her to sleepwalk and appear sickly and pale. A doctor struggles to diagnose Lucy's illness but manages to find a temporary solution to bring her strength back. As the two stories converge, a fight results against their common enemy, Count Dracula. Jonathan, Mina, Lucy, and others are trying to prevent Dracula from doing any more harm. I recommend Bram Stoker's Dracula as a fascinating background story to the already well-known character of Dracula. Many people know of Dracula, but their knowledge is vaguely based on bits and pieces of random adaptations of his story. Reading Stoker's original text gives the reader substantial context for Dracula's story and its true depictions.
