🌟 Recommendation Details

This book is divided into two parts. The first part mainly tells the story of the protagonist, Meursault, a detached and indifferent person. After his mother passes away in a nursing home, he takes a bus to attend the funeral. During the journey, the glaring light from the road and sky, the strong smell of gasoline, and the bumps along the way make him unwilling to talk to anyone. Upon arriving at the mortuary, the attendants ask him if he wants to see his mother one last time. He refuses, and he doesn't even know his mother's age. After she is buried, he feels no change in his life, and he doesn't feel sadness or grief. At the funeral, he doesn't cry and casually smokes and drinks coffee. The second part of the book describes how the protagonist accidentally kills a man, and the judge, based on his cold and emotionless behavior at his mother's funeral, sentences him to death, arguing that he violated moral norms. Want to know what happens to him? I recommend you read this book, as the author won the Nobel Prize in Literature for it. This novel is representative of absurdist literature, indicating that there are consequences to going against the norms, and the conflict between the individual and society is a real issue.
