Four abandoned Alden children named Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are the subjects of the book The Boxcar Children. After their parents pass away, the children decide to go it alone since they don't want to live with their cold-hearted grandfather, who they have never met because he disapproves of their parents' union. The kids are welcomed to spend the night at a bakery after stopping there to ask for food on a chilly night. The kids decide to flee and seek refuge in the woods after learning that the baker and his wife intend to keep the three older kids as slaves while sending Benny to an orphanage. They flee into the woods, where they find an abandoned boxcar to live in. Will they survive the wilderness and the dangers it brings? Read this book to find out!
I recommend this book because it is a very good example of family bonding, trust, and hope.
