There are so many machines, people, and steps in building a road. From filling up trucks to rolling the tar, the first thing to do is to plan the road's dimensions and clear the land. Once that is done, rocks and dirt are filled into a dump truck, which lays the groundwork for the road. Steam rollers and graders follow the process by packing the ground, while tar is getting prepared to be spread and squished. Now that the first steps are complete, the workers take a delicious lunch break. The workers then finish completing the road by adding road marks, signs, and more. At last, the work is finished, and a new road is ready for driving. Reason for Recommendation: This book, which has fun onomatopoeias or "construction site noises", is great for young readers who love trucks and machines. There is also a list of construction trucks and descriptions in the back of the book. If you enjoyed "Roadwork," you may enjoy the other book in this series, "Demolition."
